旧開智学校校舎は長野県松本市にある、1876年完成の木造校舎です。地元の大工棟梁・立石清重（たていしせいじゅう）が手がけた擬洋風建築で、2019年に国宝に指定されました。Completed in 1876 in Matsumoto, Nagano, the Former Kaichi School Building is a wooden example of giyōfū architecture by local master carpenter Tateishi Seijū. It became a National Treasure in 2019.구 가이치학교 교사는 나가노현 마쓰모토시에 있는 1876년 완공의 목조 학교 건물입니다. 지역의 목수장 다테이시 세이주가 지은 의양풍 건축으로, 2019년 일본의 국보로 지정되었습니다.

校舎には、漆喰を石積みのように見せた部分があります。日本の材料と技術で西洋の姿を表した、擬洋風建築の工夫です。Parts of the building use plaster to imitate stonework. This is a giyōfū approach: Western forms expressed through Japanese materials and craftsmanship.교사에는 회반죽으로 돌을 쌓은 듯 표현한 부분이 있습니다. 일본의 재료와 기술로 서양의 형태를 구현한 의양풍 건축의 특징입니다.

角の出っ張りと細い影に注目を。淡い色の壁の中にも、濃淡があることに気づきます。Notice the raised corners and their narrow shadows. Even pale walls hold many shades.모서리의 돌출부와 가느다란 그림자를 살펴보세요. 밝은 벽에서도 짙고 옅은 차이를 찾을 수 있습니다.

屋根の中央に立つのは八角形の塔屋。木造2階建ての校舎の上に、ひときわ目を引く輪郭をつくっています。An octagonal tower rises from the center of the roof, giving the two-story wooden school its distinctive outline.지붕 중앙에는 팔각형 탑이 서 있습니다. 목조 2층 교사 위로 솟아올라 눈길을 끄는 윤곽을 만듭니다.

屋根、塔、空へ。一本の線を引くように、視線をゆっくり上へ運んでみてください。Follow the roof up to the tower, then into the sky, as though tracing one fine line.지붕에서 탑으로, 다시 하늘로. 선 하나를 그리듯 시선을 천천히 위로 옮겨 보세요.

手すりから小さな金具まで、近くで見る。From a handrail to a small fitting, look a little closer.난간에서 작은 금속 장식까지, 한 걸음 가까이 봅니다.

木の手すりには、縦に並ぶ部材と横に伸びる線が見えます。褐色の木と、その間の明るい空間が交互に続きます。Vertical members meet long horizontal lines in the wooden railing. Brown wood alternates with the brighter spaces between it.나무 난간에는 세로로 늘어선 부재와 가로로 뻗은 선이 보입니다. 갈색 나무와 그 사이의 밝은 공간이 번갈아 이어집니다.

左右のつまみを見比べたら、その周りの模様へ。同じ丸い形でも、背景によって見え方が変わります。Compare the two knobs, then look at the surrounding pattern. A similar shape changes against a different background.양쪽 손잡이를 비교한 뒤 주변 무늬를 보세요. 비슷한 둥근 모양도 배경에 따라 다르게 느껴집니다.
